Mail Art just for the fun of it . . .

I had to send a couple of things to my son and daughter-in-law in Boston . . .
So I used the opportunity for one of my favorite pastimes: MAIL ART!

before I added postage . . . you can see the postage "frame" stamp below

I used part of a sheet of scrapbook paper on the left. Then I added my favorite mail art rubber stamps, including some my boys designed way back when! Can you guess which ones??

The "world's best Mom", well that certainly gives that boy designed stamp away!! Dallas drew the design when he was in grade school (I love his world -top left) . I took that design and a number of other designs his brother Decklin drew like "fun post" and had them made into stamps. Wow, we were into mail art even back then, 1990's  : ^ )  I actually discovered rubber stamps when Dallas received a set of them (INKADINKADOO) from my sister for his 6th birthday. Dallas will turn 29 next month, so I had great fun stamping this envelope for him & his wife! I also added a bit of Lumiere paint and watercolor crayons . . .

I'm really just having fun getting my creative groove back on . . . how about you? What are you working on right now, if you care to share -let me know in a comment below or email.

  1. How lovely! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed seeing your envelopes and the stamps from your boys way back when...

  2. What fun, and he'll enjoy telling the story of "his" stamps. The cat with the pencil really adds a touch of humor. Who wouldn't want to receive mail like this?

  3. You do send out the best mail art-and you have so many great and fun mail art stamps too!

  4. Your Mail Art is priceless. It's coool that you used his stamps on this.
You asked what I am up to ....well....
I have several irons in the fire right now. I will be participating in three quilting blog hops in August. I am trading 5x7 art with group of 40 artists on Facebook. I am also painting furniture and a mural fro my new grandbaby due in October. Staying busy. Having Fun.

  5. Wow! The Post Office must've loved well as the recipient.

  6. How special you had our sons' designs made into stamps and are able to use them all these years later. LOVE the envelope! Please forgive me for not visiting more often lately - been quite under the weather. Hope your health issues are improving and you are taking good care of yourself. hugs, Donna
