When I looked at my blog today I couldn't believe I had not posted since Saturday! I also haven't worked in my art journal since that day either, how odd -must get back to it!
I've been otherwise occupied you could say, mostly with organizing my new art swaps for creative swaps.I'm almost ready to set them up on the blog and announce them. I've been working on more than one thing, more than one swap - writing lessons and instructions. There will be a series of shorter turn-around ATC swaps and this summer, a postcard mail art swap due in September. Stay tuned, more info soon!
In the meantime, to save my sanity yesterday since it was not a Nia dance class day, I took Asia and Chloe to DeSoto Memorial, a nearby park run by the National Park Service. It has been really hot (90's) and dry here until recently, even again this morning we have had rain. Yesterday was overcast, not too hot (80's) and a good day to try walking at the park again.
A path through the forest -they had a prescribed burn here in April.
which way now, ma?
How about on the mangrove path?
As I was walking I saw these little tiny flowers on the board walk . . .
And realized they were from the mangrove trees above.
I loved the way they spilled down to the bench and on the path.

I saw some very small creatures and practiced my macro shots . . .
Come this way, through the Sea grapes . . .
You might see a great blue heron watching over the water
And there will definitely be time for a walk on the beach . . .
and perhaps some swimming!
This was my 'blip' for yesterday, my photo of the day on blipfoto.
There is usually a journal entry with the photos too.
I hope you enjoyed our walk, I enjoyed sharing it with you.
My sister and her family are arriving here today from Connecticut for a few days visit, but I still plan to dive into my art journal again soon and also finish up and announce the new swaps! Kathy will be spending time with my mom and dad so I can squeeze it in. When I can, I will work on these things and I will not worry about it if I don't get to them right way . . . just wanted to let you know. xo lenna
This mail art is for a swap group I was invited to join by Sue Emmerson in Australia. After I hosted a creative swap last year on mail art, Sue wanted to keep things going! Six people are part of this group which means we create 5 envelopes for each theme, every other month. The group was kept small because that was the most we could all manage. I love mail art, so of course I joined! There is another small group of mail artists whom I will join in with next month, so if you like mail art you shan't be wanting, I'll share it here. In fact, I have some other mail art I hope to share here, but wanted to start with this first!
I started by creating envelopes from an envelope template and 12x12 paper.
Then I used matte medium to meld some bird themed tissue paper to the envelope.
-just a bit. There is not much room left!! Steven says my art journal looks like the episode of Seinfeld when George Constanza's bulging wallet cannot fit one more scrap of paper in it, or it will burst! My journal is not really like that, but kind of. Look HERE! I did another spread today inspired by both some spilled over paint from the previous spread and a mail art exchange I was working on. I wanted to use some of the same things I used on the envelopes to remind me of the swap. I will show those envelopes soon! I took my photos of the steps I made in creating the journal spread and made a small "Slide" slide show that I could embed in this post -see it below. You can also view more photos if you'd like, and in a larger size too, in the slide show here on flickr. If you'd like more details, go there! You can pause the slideshows at anytime if you need with the pause button.
Any questions, just let me know . . . yup, I am still having fun with this! I got some of my ideas today fueled by this post by Julie Balzer - No more blank pages! have fun and enjoy.

I just finished a very large creative swapon Little Books. I was not sure I was going to be able to do a video or a slide show that showed off the participants pieces . . . but I just could not help and create one! If you have not seen or been a part of one of my creative swaps before, this little video will show you a bit of what they are like.
Some instructions: This is a HD (High Definition) video at 720pHD. Just click on that number on the screen if your computer prefers 480p or 360p. Next to the numbers in the right corner of the screen is a little box. If you click on it you can view the video in Full-Screen. Just hit the Esc key when you are done. It is over 5 minutes long, but I think well worth every minute. I am sorry for misspelling "Maryland, USA" twice! I could not go back and fix the spelling after I realized it, as I had finally gotten one photo from everyone included in the song and the video was already produced.... enjoy!
I am really proud of the Little Book swap and all the players! A new swap will be announced later this week, most likely. Go to the creative swaps blog to learn more! : ^ ) lenna
Just some photos I took yesterday while the sun was shining. Today we had rain. I think my friend Frieda in Scotland granted my wish and sent some of her rain my way! ; ^ ) I can't remember the last time it rained here in sunny, sunny Florida. With all new the plants we have that are trying to get established in our yard, some natural rain (instead of Steven or I with the hose) is so welcome. Anyway . . . yesterday, in the sun, I noticed just how full my art journal is getting. I only began on May 1. Click on any photo for more detail.
The pages are kind of wobbly from all the stuff I add, but I think its interesting . . .
You may have seen the one below on my blipfoto account? This is where I add one photo a day. Sometimes photos of my art sneaks in there . . . I have almost made it to 200 "blips" or daily photos -amazing! That is Frieda's doing too!! She found blip & told me about it.
I like the way the leaf ribbon trim sticks up! So, it looks to me like I can probably fill this journal up by the end of June . . . and Frieda asked on blipfoto if I would go on, through July? Why yes, I definitely think so! I'll just have to find another journal as there won't be any room left here. It is a creative habit now, like blipfoto. I want to work in it and have learned just doing a little bit is okay. Then maybe I can fit it all in and do everything I want! ; ^ ) lenna
