4x4 for Trinka

As part of an exchange through the Oh My Gothic yahoo group (a closed group), I created this 4" x 4" piece for Trinka Seals on September 29th. Trinka gave us 'Artist Choice' as a theme, and shared that she had a liking for Faces, Numbers, Maps & Textures. This is what I came up with. I have no step-by-steps for this piece; it was created soon before my father passed away.

Sea Oat leaves adorn the bottom left.
the 2 girls and the dog are a transparency image I printed.

I hope you enjoy -please click any photo for more detail. If you have the chance, and have visited my blog online I would love to hear what you think of the new template I have put into use via Blogger in Draft. I am trying out the new Dynamic views template which is totally different, but I think I like. If you have a minute, please take a look and see what you think. I like it because of the way it condenses the posts and it is so much easier to browse or hop around. Google is working on the ability to have gadgets (like I had in my sidebar) with this -not available yet- and in the meantime I am trying to add info via pages at the top. See what you think and let me know if you can, what you like or don't like. Thank you.

  1. Give me a few shots to try this out. My first reaction is that it is confusing, Lenna. But I'm old, and it's not that easy to teach me a new trick. I'll try it on for size. Getting HERE isn't any more difficult than the old template. It just seems overwhelming to me at this point. So many images...

  2. Thanks very much, dave for your feedback. I do think it is radically different . .. but I like how you can click on a photo to view the post and even scroll to other posts with the arrows top left on the post. If you do not like all of the photos/posts as little flip cards, you can choose a different view, top left by hovering over flip card. Classic is more what you are used to. I guess that is one of the ideas behind Dynamic views; you can change it to what you like and are comfortable with.... the flip card view with all the images is the default because it is my favorite. Appreciate your thoughts.

  3. Hi Lenna, here I am, too- as you know I also could not find the way, on your new template-but thanks for your suggestion about the " classics" .that helped ,and now I will try ,to go from posts to post just clicking the photoes.
I love your autumn yellow piece.

  4. Love it Lenna, gorgeous creations and i think its great you can comment here too. I was a bit worried it wouldnt let me comment
    take care

  5. I'm sure Trinka will love your Artist's Choice, Lenna!
It's taking an age to load your new look blog so I'll have a look in the library when I'm there next. Usually I read your posts on Yahoo, which works well, speedwise.

  6. Thank you Frieda. For you and anyone else who is finding my default view slow to load when looking at it online, try hovering your mouse over the word "Flipcard" in the navigation bar. You will see other viewing choices appear. I think the classic view, which is much like the former style I had, might preform better. Please let me know. xo

  7. I don't like the new style very much Lenna, but of course I will continue to read and love your blog in whatever form it takes! It's nice to see you sharing again, I know it's been a difficult time. *hugs*

  8. I appreciate your feedback, Kat. Thank you. Here is something I discovered: If you do not like the "flipcard" version with the many photos/posts - or it does not work well on your computer, either click on the word Flipcard (tp left under creative lenna) to change the view, or save this URL: -to always see a more traditional style blog.
This is a new template "in draft" (I believe) that they are working on and still adding to. I am going to hang with it and work with it and give it a chance, but I do want your comments. This "rebirth" of my blog is important to me after the death of my father, as that is when I found it.
    huge thanks, lenna

  9. I'm lovin' the 4"x4" for Trinka, the combination of the background, stamping, transparency and leaves is lovely (as is that wonderful yellow colour).

There's an awful lot going on with your new blog set-up, Lenna! Like Dave, I think I'm going to need a few visits to work out what it's all about. I'll get back to you once I've 'test driven' it for a while! Good for you for trying something new though ;o)

  10. Lenna I like all the photos that come up on the new blog. It is a beautiful mosaic. I am so sorry to hear of your father's death. How wonderful that you were able to spend so much time with him before he died. My heart goes out to you and your family Lenna. We are very far apart but I will always think of you with such warmth and fondness.
