5.21 finishing the spread

I ran out of time to post this yesterday, but here is how I finished the art journal spread I started on friday . . . click on the photo for a larger picture if you wish.

The "Florida or Bust" sign is something Joy packed into the box of Stonewall Kitchen goodies she brought ; ^ )  I started to fill the spread yesterday by printing out photos from Joy's visit on vellum designed for my inkjet printer. Here they are on a xyron sheet.
I did this because I wanted the images to be soft and not over-power or cover up the background I did previously. The bird is a Snowy Egret we saw yesterday on Coquina Beach. He kept us entertained for quite some time yesterday as we watched him fish for minnows. There are some lovely photos of him and many other amazing Florida birds we saw close-up yesterday, in my Birds and Wildlife set on Flickr.

Here is a scan of the spread. You can see the gold Lumiere painted paper peeking out underneath the vellum photos. I added a few rubber stamped images with Black StazOn inks, and chose 2 colorful quotes from ARTchix Studio that were very appropriate for us. I decided to journal a bit just to help me remember this special time and used a black sharpie marker. The lace on the left is from the previous spread featuring me and my sister. The beautiful colorful fabric strip in the middle was part of a gift from a student and swap participant Maggie Muller (thank you!!). This may not be the most beautiful or aesthetically pleasing spread, but it is perfect as far as I am concerned!!! To read about our day on the beach with the birds yesterday, please visit my daily photo journal.

Thanks for all your visits and comments.
Truly appreciated!!

  1. This is just wonderful Lenna - I have been following your "process" as you've worked through your journal - great ideas...if only I had time, sigh...hope all is well with you - anymore visitors coming your way? We are off to the cottage for a very short visit over the long weekend (black flies, yeah). Good excuse to stay indoors and do crafty things...

  2. Your art journal is filling rapidly with beautiful pages but to me the best thing is how they will remind you of wonderful days spend with friends and family as well as making your art!

  3. I adore these loose, free, follow your heart kind of spreads. Perfect in every way. :o) Donna

  4. Happy memories for you in this gorgeous art journal. It's SO helpful and interesting to me when you share the process of creating these pages.

    Thank you!
