Dad's melonseed sailboat made the local papers!

This was in the Anna Maria Island Sun -a local paper- yesterday! The melonseed sailboat my dad made, my husband and dad refinished, and my husband Steven raced on Saturday, is pictured in the paper, top right. You can read more about the day here!

  3. What exactly is a melonseed boat? It looks like a canoe. Your dad created a lovely boat, and I'm glad Steve got to race it after their hard work of redoing the boat.

  4. Elaine,
    A melonseed is a traditional, 1900’s sailboat design . . .

My dad did make canoes first (also old designs) and then this sailboat. His are cedar-strip and all very beautiful. You can see how he built the sailboat here: Melonseed Build.
